Success Tip: Make No Excuses

Many famous actors, music artists, inventors, etc., had special challenges ranging from learning disabilities to physical disabilities. Take Beethoven for example. He was born deaf yet he went on to be one of the world’s greatest composers or Joni Erickson who was paralyzed from the neck down yet she learned to paint with her mouth. Today, her paintings are famous around the world and worth millions. If you are faced with a special challenge of your own, while you may have to adjust things from time to time, do not give excuses. If you really want to achieve something, nothing can stop you. If there’s a will, there’s a way!

What are some of the excuses you have given for not achieving your goals? Resolve not to make those excuses from this day onward.

The Real K.E.Y. To Becoming A Successful Ebook Writer

There must be some reason why certain ebook writers are
successful and others are not.

In other words, why do some authors make high six-figure
incomes (even seven-figures!) and others barely make enough
to cover their hosting fees?

There must be some reason for the difference in level of
success, right?

There is.

In fact, there are three “reasons” why that I want to share
with you now.  I’ve used the word “K.E.Y.” as an acronym to
reveal these three elements of successful ebook publishing.

1. K = KEEP it concise.

One of the biggest mistakes ebook writers make is starting
their project with the idea in mind that their ebook must
be a certain number of pages in length.

That is, they assume the ebook should be 50 pages or 100
pages or even 200 pages in order to be desirable to
consumers.

Wrong.  Ding. Thanks for playing.

Much more important than QUANTITY is QUALITY.  Almost every
potential customer in your target market is considerably
more interested in learning something useful than they are
reading a bunch of commentary that has little or no real
value to them.

The ability to concisely (yet comprehensively) share
content that is practical is a must if you want to be
successful in the information business.  No fluff.  No
filler.  No fat.  Just the meat.

That’s what consumers want.  Especially today in our fast-
paced, instant, I-want-it-now society.

And chances are you are much more likely to write a 30 page
manual and get it done than you are to slave over trying to
measure up to a 200 page masterpiece.

Your first key to success is “keep it concise”.  Share what
you need to share in the least amount of pages as possible.
It doesn’t have to be the great American novel.  This isn’t
Hemingway.

2. E = ENJOY yourself.

I simply must mention that if you enjoy your “work” then
you are exponentially more likely to complete your ebooks
than those who reluctantly or grudgingly write.

Seriously, don’t underestimate what I’m saying here.
You’ll get much more done as a writer by having fun with
your subject matter.

That’s the beauty of information publishing.  YOU get to
pick the topic.  A topic of interest – of passion – to you
as the author.  Something you find enjoyable, even
exhilarating.

To be sure, you want to choose topics that are in demand
and have a ready-made audience awaiting who are willing to
purchase them.  But, at the same time, you can look for
those marketable topics that appeal to your interests and
expertise.

I don’t care how “profitable” a subject may be, I’d never
take it on as a project of mine unless I got some sense of
satisfaction or enjoyment in writing about it.

Instead, look for those things that you are already talking
about anyway.  And then write what you’ve been talking
about.

3. Y = YIELD results.

Finally, I must exhort you to “yield results”.  That is,
you simply must stick to it and finish the job.

I cannot tell you how many people that I’ve met online who
struggle with the affliction “short-of-the-finish-line-it
is”.

They begin running the race with gusto.  They pick their
topic like it was a Nike outfit.  They outline their ebook
like they just heard the starting gun fire.  They come up
with ideas to include in their work like they were
sprinting down the track.

And when they round the first corner, they start slowing
down.  Before they know it, they’re up in the stands
watching others cross the finish line.

That’s why I am adamant about telling you the golden rule
of ebook content:  Never start something you can’t finish
in 30 days.

With any new ebook you are planning on writing, choose the
topic and outline it in such a way that you can complete
the content within one calendar month.  Anything that goes
beyond that period of time is likely going to be discarded
somewhere past the starting gate and before the finish
line.

It’s important that you set for your goal a reasonable,
reachable amount of pages for your ebook … such as 30
pages.  Then, divide that goal number of pages into your 30
days.  In this example, it would mean writing just ONE page
per day (very realistic!) for 30 days and your ebook will
be completed.

Victory!  The finish line!

Certainly there are a wide variety of other “keys” to being
successful as an ebook writer (choosing the right topics,
learning to outline well, brainstorming ideas, marketing,
etc.) but these three form a solid foundation for you to
build upon as you continue to learn more about information
publishing.

K = KEEP it concise.
E = ENJOY yourself.
Y = YIELD results.

See you on your victory lap!

Success Tip: Fall in Love with Your Goals

Fall in love with your success goals. Although that sounds funny, you need to have an intimate passion with your interest. You can do this regardless of what your target is. By having passion for what you are doing and moving towards it, you will automatically put more effort into it. Passion is a good thing as long as it does not become an obsession.

From a scale of 1 to 10, how deeply passionate are you with your goals?

What is God’s Role in a Christian Marriage?

What is God’s Role in a Christian Marriage?

By Gracier Yu

I posted this in one of the forums, wanting to know the thoughts of the public about this question: “What is God’s role in a Christian marriage?”. The answers I got reflect the unbelief of many as to God’s involvement in marriage. Many assume that God does not care about marriages. I kept this in my heart until I have found the answers while my husband was speaking about the role of God in the church. This I am sure, God is not distant from us. HE cares about our marriages. Read on and discover how and why God will help you save your marriage.

1. God is the author of marriage.

God was the one who determined that it was not good for man to be alone. God gave a suitable partner for Adam. That was the very first marriage ordained by God himself. The Bible also says of marriage: “What God has put together, let no man separate.”. This means God is against divorce. HE has ordained that marriages be lifetime unions. This also means that God can and will help you save your marriage.

2. God fills our utmost need for Him so we will be capable of loving our partners.

God has set eternity in the heart of man. He has made us to long for eternity. That longing, that desire can only be filled by God. It is impossible for our partner to fill our utmost need for God. Our need for security, for ultimate unconditional love can only be met by the author of love. If we try to get all those from our partners, we will only be disappointed. Our partners may eventually burn-out if we insist. It is not because our partners do not love us, they are simply incapable of giving the security, the peace that ONLY God can give. If we set our hopes on Him, we will be like trees planted by the streams of water. When we have found our security in Him, we can give positive contributions to our marriage instead of us draining the energy out of our partners. You can help save your marriage only if you are basing your security on God.

3. God is our model of what true love is.

Our best models and most effective trainers on how we will love our partners are our parents. However, no matter how good our parents are, at one point or another, they will fail to model true love. This may cause us to bring unhealthy relationship habits into our marriage. God is the only One capable of living out true love perfectly. This is why He is asking the husbands to love their wives as He loved the church.

4. God guides us through His Word on how we should live our lives, including how to be good wives and husbands.

God gave us specific instruction on the dynamics of marriage. Wives are to submit to the husband as to the Lord. Husbands should love the wife as Christ loved the church.

God’s word instructs us to save our marriage by following His blueprint of leadership in His church.

5. God sends us counselors.

God works all things together for the good of those who love the Lord. I have seen God working in my life and in my marriage by consistently sending godly mentors to me and my husband. I was never without a good counselor. I also see this among other Christian couples. Sometimes, we tend to think we meet these good people by chance. No, these are not by chance. They are blessings from God. They are part of God’s plan to save your marriage.

6. God is sovereign in our marriage.

We live because of God. Our every breath is from God. God holds everything in His hand. In the same way that HE holds the universe, HE keeps our marriages intact. There are many things we cannot control but God is able to help us and sustain us. If we follow His commands, HE will help us nourish and enjoy our marriage, one that testifies of the goodness of God in our lives.

This article is a testimony of how God works in our marriage. HE has been saving our marriage by His loving hand. By God’s grace and through your faith, God will also save your marriage.
